Automatic Writing
Automatic writing is a great psychic development tool, which anyone can learn to do. All you need is a pen, paper, patience and a quiet atmosphere. Some people find that a keyboard works just as well. The main thing to learn is to free you hands and mind from conscious control.
I like to do a short meditation beforehand to wind down, but that is entirely up to the individual. Another thing, which may help you is to light some candles as well as some gentle incense, or anything that has a calming influence on you such as music. Make sure that you have a comfortable chair.
Before I start I like to "white light" myself or say a prayer. Let go of all tension in your body by taking some deep breaths. You need to let go of worrying about spelling or grammar. Take your pen in your hand in a relaxed fashion, clear your mind of any thoughts and close your eyes. Only open your eyes if you absolutely have to for e.g. you feel you are no longer writing on the paper.
With your eyes closed, imagine that someone is guiding your hand similar to someone teaching a young child how to write. Let the pen take over, don't worry if thoughts are racing around in your mind, just keep writing! While you are learning, it is best to keep your writing session to approximately ten minutes.
When you have finished your writing, take time to look over your work carefully. You may find that your writing begins with loops or squiggles that eventually take shape and form letters and words. Some words may be illegible, come out as phrases, symbols, clear text, different language or even images (spontaneous drawing). At the time, they may not appear to make much sense, but all of these messages should be kept for future reference. Most messages tend to be private, often suggestions for your own personal development. You will most likely discover that the messages will be direct, honest, factual and wise.
As you become more adept, you will be able to develop a system of asking questions and receiving answers. Another idea is to focus on a particular subject such as career, love life, finances etc
There are different theories about where these messages come from. I believe that they come from the source that you need to hear from at the time. It may be from your spirit guide, angels, deceased loved ones, your higher consciousness or it may even a spirit that just has something to say! Whatever the case may be, just enjoy the experience!
